Introduction: Thyroid disorders areamong the increasing prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases, which have arguably received less attention, especially in developing countries. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of eight weeks of aerobic exercise training on thyroid hormones function. Materials and Method: In this study, 24 overweight women with hypothyroidism were selected and randomly assigned into two homogeneous groups including the experimental group (n=12) and the control group (n=12). Physical activity in this study included an eight-week aerobic exercise program with an intensity of 50%-75% of maximum heart rate based on the Karvonen formula, lasting 45 minutes per session, three times per week. Blood samples and body composition were assessed24 hours before and after the protocol using standard tools and kits. For intra-group comparisons, the paired t-test was used, and for inter-group comparisons, the independent t-test was aoolied. All statistical operations were performed at a significance level of 0.05 using SPSS version 23 software. Results: The results at the end of eight weeks of training showed that although there was no significant change in the weight of the experimental group, serum TSH in the experimental group decreased (p=0.004).Additionally, T3 and T4 levels in the experimental group were significantly increased (p=0.000) and (p=0.001) respectively. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that this intensity of aerobic exercise can be effective in improving the production and secretion of thyroid hormones in women with hypothyroidism.
